I am a Doctorate in Law from the National Law School of India University Bangalore, India (NLSIU). I have also completed my MPhil and LLM from NLSIU. I was selected for the World Heart Federation Emerging Leaders Programme held in Bangalore (2016), Legal Training Programme from the McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer, Melbourne (2014, 2015 & 2018); Global Tobacco Control Leadership Programme from the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore (2011) and Dissemination and Implementation Training for Waterpipe Research from the U.S. National Cancer Institute and American University of Beirut in Lebanon (2017).
My work experience includes closely working with various national and international organizations on various aspects of tobacco control policy, monitoring, training, capacity building, enforcement and evaluation. In the past I have worked with HRIDAY, New Delhi; Public Health Foundation of India, New Delhi; World Health Organization, New Delhi; ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida, and the WHO FCTC Global Knowledge Hub on Smokeless Tobacco (KH-SLT) at ICMR-NICPR, Noida. I was elected as a board member of the Board of Directors of the Framework Convention Alliance representing the South East Asia Region from 2016-2019.
My research interest and experience includes working on smoke-free and tobacco free public places policies, tobacco advertising, pictorial health warnings and plain packaging, tobacco industry monitoring, electronic cigarettes (ENDS), smokeless tobacco control policies, implementation of WHO FCTC, illicit trade in tobacco products, evaluation of tobacco control and NCD prevention and control programmes. I have several publications on various issue of tobacco control in national and international high impact peer reviewed journals, conference abstracts, books and monographs.
