Dr. Apollonio is Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research considers the activities of industries implicated in the spread of non-communicable diseases, including opioids, tobacco, and cannabis. Her current work includes efforts to:
-- Understand and address the role of pharmaceutical companies in the opioid crisis
-- Improve the regulation of novel cannabis products, with a focus on reducing poisonings among children

Lisa Bero, PhD

Lisa A. Bero, PhD, Professor, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy and Institute for Health Policy Studies, School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, is a pharmacologist with primary interests in how clinical and basic sciences are translated into clinical practice and health policy. She has developed and validated methods for assessing bias in the design, conduct and dissemination of research on pharmaceuticals, tobacco and chemicals. Dr. Bero has also conducted analyses to examine the dissemination and policy implications of research evidence.

Dr. Scarlett Lin Gomez is an epidemiologist with research interests in the role of structural and social drivers of health in producing inequities and disparities in cancer and other health outcomes. She is Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Co-Leader of the Cancer Control Program of the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Director of the Greater Bay Area Cancer Registry, a part of the California Cancer Registry and the NCI Surveillance Epidemiology End Results (SEER) Program.

Kevin Grumbach, MD

Kevin Grumbach, MD is Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He served as Chair of the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine from 2003 to 2022. He is a Founding Director of the UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care and Director of the Community Engagement Program for the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. He served as Vice President for Population Health for the UCSF Health system from 2015-2018.

In July 2023, Dr. Rita Hamad transitioned to the role of Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard School of Public Health. She was formerly an Associate Professor in the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and the Department of Family & Community Medicine at UCSF. She is a social epidemiologist and family physician, and the Director of the Social Policies for Health Equity Research Center (https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/sphere/).

Mindy Hebert-Derouen, PhD, MPH

Dr. DeRouen is a cancer epidemiologist with dual training in cancer biology and epidemiology. Her ongoing research efforts are focused on cancer prevention and control and address cancer disparities due to multi-level determinants, especially social determinants of health. Dr. DeRouen has experience with pooling and harmonizing complex multi-level data, including contextual-level data and data from electronic health records, from disparate sources and designing studies of multi-level data to study cancer disparities.
