The UCSF Health Atlas is an interactive mapping website to explore neighborhood-level characteristics and see how they relate at a population level.
Health Atlas was developed at the University of California, San Francisco and launched in 2020. Health Atlas expanded in 2024 to include data from all 50 states in the U.S., the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
Health Atlas features:
Over 120 neighborhood characteristics to visualize
Data were curated from over 20 different public data sources including American Community Survey, EPA Environmental Justice Screen, and PLACES.
Data capture various domains of social determinants of health as well as relevant health outcomes and are organized into the following categories:
- Demographic data
- Socioeconomic data
- Environmental
- Neighborhood data
- Health and health care data
