Sohil R Sud, MD MA is Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Dr. Sud serves as Director of the Children & Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, California’s multi-year multi-billion investment to transform the way children, youth, and families receive behavioral health services and supports. Prior to this role, he supported the California Department of Public Health and led Safe Schools for All, the state’s interagency team to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in TK-12 schools.

Dr. Sud cares for newborns and hospitalized children. He completed his clinical training at UCSF in the Pediatric Leadership for the Underserved (PLUS) program and served as Chief Resident at San Francisco General Hospital. He earned his medical degree with research honors from Tufts University, holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Tufts Fletcher School, and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University.

Dr. Sud is a faculty affiliate of the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences and former Chair of the Pediatrics Department of Washington Hospital Healthcare System. He published peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics ranging from COVID-19 to trade policy and served on the advisory boards of the American Academy of Pediatrics, California Chapter 1 and of Adolescent Health Champions.
